Auspicious Anniversary

Painting by Susan Ploughe.

Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay will open their doors on May 9 to begin their 19th year in Door County. The number nine is considered to be auspicious in China, so this will be a great season with new paintings on display and lots of one-of-a-kind items to discover.

Susan Ploughe, an award-winning painter who creates a series of portraits of China for the gallery, will join the gallery for a show mid-summer. Jewelry artists Peter and Skye Ciesla will return with stunning designs, and Angela Lensch will display her popular India Collection of beaded jewelry. David Smith’s exquisite pottery teacups and unusual teapots, and Jim Rigoni’s metalwork will again be on their shelves.

The yearly container will soon arrive from China, and despite the calendar, it will feel like Christmas again as all the latest treasures are unpacked. The inventory list is intriguing; stone lanterns, bronze pandas, deer, and lions, wind bells, and carved dragons will be new for 2015.

The furniture that the Lindens collected this winter is also an exciting collection of new designs. Expect to see smaller tables, chests, high stools, coffee tables and many other colorful, unusual pieces on display. One item that will sell fast are the asymmetrical wooden stools.

There will also be some new fashion from China: purses, linen jackets, and an entire collection of wooden bracelets from the Shangri-La collective.

Linden Gallery, located at 12001 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay, will be open daily 10 am – 5 pm from May 9 until the end of October. For more information call 920.854.2487.
