Avenue Art on 3rd Opens in Sturgeon Bay

Avenue Art on 3rd – a new custom-framing, design-consulting and art gallery – opened Nov. 4 in Sturgeon Bay at 39 S. 3rd Ave.

When the space next to SŌMI Gallery became available, Door County artist Karen Hertz-Sumnicht jumped at the chance to open the new space. She had owned and operated Avenue Art & Company in Appleton for 35 years and is offering a similar set of services here. In addition to providing custom-framing and design- and art-consulting services for both residential and commercial customers, Avenue Art on 3rd will sell original works by regional and nationwide painters, potters and sculptors.

“It was just too wonderful an opportunity to pass up,” Hertz-Sumnicht said. “And I love the idea of adding to the creative energy that’s blossomed at the historic Stroh Block building. Plus, I finally get to team up with my sister, Sarah, after decades of wishing we could collaborate in an art-based business.” Sarah Chance, from Denver, has joined the company as manager.

Fall/winter hours are Thursday – Monday, 12-5 pm. Email [email protected] to find out more.
