Baileys Harbor Fire Station Comes in Under Budget

The Town of Baileys Harbor made the last payment this week on its new fire station, a voter-approved construction project that came in under budget. Fire Chief Brian Zak told the town board Monday that it was quite an accomplishment for the Keller construction company to complete the project for $3.67 million – $65,487 under the contract amount.

Zak and David Eliot, town chair, said the new station is a major improvement over the undersized, 1956 facility it replaced.

Also Monday, Zak said the fire station should become the town’s main emergency shelter instead of the town hall. Zak will spend a few months updating an emergency-operations manual.
