More than 1,200 people are expected to take to the grounds at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall Park June 15 for an afternoon like no other in Door County. The second annual Door County Beer Festival is almost here, and organizers have released information on the great schedule of seminars and special events that will surround the tasting tent.

The slate of seminars for this year’s festival includes four fantastic chances to learn more about the brewing world:

Mary Deviley, founder of Tapuat Kombucha in Sister Bay, who will discuss how to get started making this inexpensive fermented beverage in your own home.

George Bregar, Director of Brewing for Milwaukee’s iconic Alterra Coffee Roasters, who’ll talk about the similarities between beer tasting and coffee tasting.

John Lavelle, creator of The Beer Fridge app, which lets you find, record and share a world of beer options. The Beer Fridge app lets you share your list with friends and see what they’re drinking. Learn more about this great app and how you can use it to find great craft beers in Door County.

Dan Ritchie of Draught Brewing Systems on the art of pouring a great beer and the importance of maintaining your tap system.

The VIP Event, featuring 2013 Champion Cheesemaker Marieke Penterman of Holland Family Cheese is already sold out! Organized by the folks at Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese, that event will also feature appearances from Chris Roelli of Roelli Cheese and Sara Hill from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing board.

The grounds will be full of live music, local culinary artisan’s showcasing their specialties, exhibitors, and of course, 140 amazing beers to sample. (And a special Rare and Cellar Beer Swap – you’ll have to find it near the grounds.)

Plus, there’s still room to enter your great craft beer into the Door County Homebrewing Championships. If you want to get even on your calorie count, you can start your day with the Ride for Nature to benefit the Ridges Sanctuary, which begins and ends on the festival grounds.
