Barb Kenyon Shows Paintings at UU Gallery in December

After 38 years as a graphic artist, Barb Kenyon retired in Door County to enjoy painting for herself. To improve her technique, she studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and participated in workshops conducted by well-known artists such as Phil Austin, Shapiro, Joe Fettingis, Tom Lynch, Emmett Johns and Rob Williams. Her husband, Bob, patiently came along and helped set up her tent at art fairs. Now, her paintings hang and circulate in several northern Illinois libraries and she shows new work at various locations in Door County, mostly with the Door County Art League.

Kenyon especially enjoys painting in plein air along the back roads with friends. She finds something interesting and new in every medium and takes pleasure in practicing each one to achieve greater mastery. She finds an endless array of subject matter in the waters, meadows, woods, old barns and buildings of Door County, and experiences a great deal of satisfaction from preserving history and nature through art. People often comment when viewing one of her pieces, “I remember that!”

Kenyon’s paintings will be featured during December at the UU Gallery at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim. Gallery hours are 1 – 3 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 11 am – 12:30 pm Sunday; and by appointment. For more information call 920.854.7559.
