Barbara Shakal Shares Her Pastels at Hope Church Art Alcoves

From now through the end of April, artwork from Barbara Shakal will be on exhibit at Hope Church Art Alcoves.

“Color and texture are the two elements that continually fascinate me and open my eyes to a wider world around me,” said Shakal.

“My pastels are inspired by the ever changing skies of Door County. I am continually amazed by the rich colors of the sky and textures of the swiftly moving cloud formations. This is my sacred space. Pastels offer me the opportunity to rapidly capture the early morning light and saturated colors of the fields, trees, water and sky that continue to nourish my spirit on a daily basis.”

Shakal, a Door County resident, owns Wisconsin Arts Gallery and Framing in Green Bay, where she is the gallery director and curator for more than 50 artists. She can often be seen on morning walks with her dog along the beach and hiking trails of Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point.

Hope Church Art Alcoves is located at the corner of Michigan Street and 12th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay.
