Barker YMCA Center Awarded 5-Star Rating

The Barker YMCA Child Development Center was again awarded the YoungStar 5 Star rating by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. YoungStar is a program of the Department of Children and Families created to improve the quality of child care for Wisconsin children. YoungStar evaluates the quality of care given by regulated child care providers and rates them from 1 Star to 5 Stars, with 5 Stars being the highest rating. The impetus for the ratings originated with studies that showed quality early child care can make a huge difference in the lives of children.

In announcing the Youngstar 5 Star Rating to the Barker Center’s families, Angie Peil, YMCA director of child care services, shared that, “we received this award because of an overall commitment to continuous quality improvement and our desire to provide excellent early care and education for your children. As parents, this award is really yours because it is your ideas and support which have inspired us to bring a world of discovery and excitement to your child each and every day. Our goal is to build your child’s self-confidence, develop their social and emotional skills and instill a love for learning that will follow them the rest of their lives.”

The Door County YMCA is the largest provider of child care services in Door County and the Barker Child Development Center is the only Youngstar 5 Rated child care in Door County.
