Base Camp reopened for the winter on Dec. 14, with the works of Don Howard on display. Howard is a versatile artist who works in many media, often combining them to achieve unique effects. His watercolors capture the warmth of Door County and the Midwest. Much of his work is created from photographs he has taken, and it expresses his love of nature.

Howard studied art at Illinois State University. He taught art and applied technology at the secondary level and has completed numerous courses and workshops in commercial and fine arts. He retired from 30 years in the field of education and now resides in Door County.
