Base Camp Hosts Turtle Ridge Exhibit

Base Camp Coffee Bar of Sister Bay is hosting “Mink River Inspirations,” a unique exhibit of paintings and handbags by Mary Ellen Sisulak, owner/designer of Turtle Ridge.

Many are familiar with Turtle Ridge handbags, but often ask Sisulak about her source of inspiration. Her imagery is inspired by nature and most of her themes come from the Nature Conservancy or her garden.

The paintings are done in gouache, an opaque watercolor. On Sisulak’s leather designs, the details of the painting are distilled and simplified.

The handbags will be paired with an original painting and a narrative about each composition. This exhibit runs until June 13.
