Eagles Sweep Pioneers in Baseball Twin Bill

Tuesday’s baseball matchup between Southern Door and Sevastopol got both games officially in before darkness, with the Eagles sweeping the doubleheader it hosted.

The Eagles won the first game in five innings, 10-0. Tyler Neinas pitched four innings to record the victory with eight strikeouts. Will Jandrin pitched the fifth inning and struck out all three batters he faced.

At the plate for Southern Door, Jack Peterson, Neinas, Christian Counard and Alec Guilette tallied two hits apiece.

The Eagles won 9-0 in game two, which was stopped after five innings because of darkness.

Jaden Diller and Matthew Malvitz led Southern Door with two hits apiece, and Malvitz and Jared Hawkey each drove in two runs.

On the mound for the Eagles, Counard and Diller combined for a perfect game. Counard tossed the first four innings, striking out 10, and Diller struck out the side in the fifth inning.
