Baseball season ends for Clippers, Pioneers

After taking a two-run lead in the opening inning Thursday, the No. 11-seeded Sturgeon Bay baseball team was unable to tally another run and lost its WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal in five innings at No. 6-seeded Shawano, 12-2.

With the loss, the Clippers ended the season 7-16 overall in their first year with Neal Henrigillis as the head coach.

In Division 4, No. 12-seeded Sevastopol lost its regional quarterfinal in five innings at Iola-Scandinavia, 12-2.

No. 3-seeded Gibraltar received an opening-round bye in Division 4 and will host a regional semifinal Tuesday against No. 6-seeded Rosholt.

In Division 3, No. 3-seeded Southern Door also received an opening-round bye and will host a regional semifinal Tuesday against No. 6-seeded Howards Grove.
