Baseball Season Ends for Eagles, Vikings

Two Door County high school baseball teams saw their season come to an end Wednesday when they were unable to score a run in their respective WIAA regional championship games.

In Division 3, No. 3-seeded Southern Door lost at No. 2-seeded Kiel, 3-0.

The Eagles could only generate three hits over seven innings facing Raiders pitcher Brett Hartlaub, who gave up a first-inning single to Jaden Diller and a pair of fifth-inning singles to Alec Guilette and Jack Peterson.

Hartlaub struck out six and walked two en route to his shutout performance.

Tyler Neinas tossed a complete game for Southern Door, allowing six hits with two walks while striking out three.

Kiel took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third, when the home team followed up a leadoff walk with two singles.

The Raiders added two more runs in the fourth inning by following up an Eagles error in the infield with three singles.

Kiel’s 3-0 lead held up for the rest of the game after neither team was able to advance a runner to third base in the final three innings.

Southern Door ended the season 19-4 overall, while the Raiders (22-2) advance to Tuesday’s Division 3 sectional at Shiocton to face No. 8-seeded New Holstein in the semifinals.
