Batten Down The Hatches

This was the 1st time encounter for me in Door County, The ships are coming in because it is going to blow!

My morning started off with the power out at my house so I got dressed and headed for Leroy’s Cafe. After a few hours, the power went out there too! My friend Adam called to tell me that he was getting out on his stand up Jetski to play in the waves. I told him he was crazy and that I would come out and take some pics. On his way to Bailey’s Harbor he saw the ship in Ellison Bay anchored for the storm. After photos and vids, Chris Miller and I took off North to check it ourselves. Sure enough!

We thought we should check north so up we went. Two guys from the power company were waving us off the highway, must have been a downed power line. We took the back roads into Gills Rock and that is where we found another ship anchored in Hedgehog Harbor. It was pretty neat to see and I hope they make it through the night unharmed.

A friend of mine on Facebook checked the north bouy and it has already peaked at 21.7′ with lots more blowing to come! It Is WINDY! My house has been shaking all night long.
