Bazyli Studio Puts the Focus on Jewelry

In 2002, local artists Peter Ciesla and Skye launched Bazyli Studio. That year they sold their home in Illinois, packed up their van and lived a gypsy life awhile, making jewelry together and growing their business along the way. Their goal was to find a home in Door County. As many do, they fell in love with the natural beauty and the creative community of the peninsula. They moved into their current home in Baileys Harbor in 2003.

They have collaborated on the jewelry of Bazyli Studio for the past 15 years. The work is one-of-a-kind and handcrafted here in the county in their home studio. The work is hand stitched onto fabric forms, often with wire built into the forms to give them flexibility. Bazyli jewelry has graced runways around the country and can be found in collections nationwide and beyond.

Skye and Peter also pursue their own personal work. Peter is a clothing designer/fiber artist and Skye’s most recent work “Shakespeare’s in the Alley: A Tribute to Bob Dylan” is a large text-based art installation. The couple own and run a gallery during the Door County season, Bazyli Studio Wearable Art featuring their jewelry, Peter’s clothing designs, and the work of selected fiber artists from Wisconsin, Illinois and the East Coast.

Come see their jewelry on June 16, 17 & 18 from 10 am to 5 pm. Their gallery is located at 2551 Ahrens Road in Baileys Harbor. For more information call 920.839.2526.
