Application due Jan. 31
The Ridges Sanctuary is opening the Baileys Harbor Range Lights for the first time to a new experience: resident docents. In 2023, volunteers will have the unique opportunity to live in the Upper Range Light while fulfilling duties as a range light resident docent.
The new opportunity will begin in May 2023 and is available for five-day sessions (Wednesday-Sunday) each week until mid-October.
As the resident docent, volunteers will be in charge of range-light tours, explaining how the lights work and their rich history; light maintenance of the facilities, including surface cleaning; and assisting with special events as the season requires.
The Upper Range Light is equipped with water, sewer, electricity, internet and a fully functional bathroom, kitchen and living quarters. The Ridges will provide a full-size bed and an additional camping cot. Docents must supply their own linens.
To apply, complete the application form at ridgessanctuary.org/visit-us/range-lights and send it to Katie Krouse at The Ridges Sanctuary, P.O. Box 152, Baileys Harbor, WI 54202.
Applications for the 2023 season are due Jan. 31. Selected docents will be notified by Feb. 28 about their upcoming volunteer commitment.
