Become Informed at Door County Sustainability Fair

Fans of renewable energy and more “sustainable” lifestyles will find abundant information at the 4th Door County Sustainability Fair on April 27, 10 am – 4 pm, at Graham and Martin Parks along the harbor in Sturgeon Bay.

Participants will find local food, bluegrass music and several dozen knowledgeable vendors representing a variety of sustainable lifestyle choices and practices from the region. Kids can find interactive activities, and a free trolley will take participants to see area examples of sustainable practices and designs.

Rick Brooks of Little Free Libraries and Madison Time Bank and Paul Tukey of SafeLawns.org will give keynote presentations. Brooks will speak at 10: 30 am about Little Free Libraries for Small Towns, a program that provides accessible, free book exchanges to places without public libraries.

Tukey will speak at 1:30 pm.

David Lea, chairperson of Sustain Door, said, “Along with 30 ‘eco communities’ in Wisconsin to date, we have used the framework from The Natural Step to help create a way of life in Door County based on the interdependent ‘triple bottom line’ of economy, society and environment, making decisions that address our needs in a long-term sustainable way to ensure our future generations have the same opportunities and address our many challenges to our health and long-term prosperity.”
