Belgian Heritage Center Hosts Belgian Kermiss

A Belgian Kermiss will be held Sept. 16, 10 am – 5 pm, at the Belgian Heritage Center (the former St. Mary of the Snow Church in Namur). The Kermiss is a traditional Belgian celebration to give thanks after the harvest. There will be music and Belgian food, including booyah, trippe, Belgian pie, and beer.

At 1:30 pm there will be a presentation of the reuse plans for the church by the Namur Belgian Heritage Foundation. Other activities include a raffle, bucket mania with prizes, a silent auction, a rummage sale and an antique car and tractor show.

Genealogical assistance will also be provided for those exploring their Belgian heritage. The public is invited to bring old family and community pictures to scan for the foundation’s archive.

The Belgian Heritage Center is located at 1255 County Road DK, Brussels.
