Belgian Settlement Area Preservation

The Peninsula Belgian American Club will host Joseph DeRose on May 16, 7 pm, at the Belgian Heritage Center, 1255 County DK. DeRose, the survey and registration historian for the State Historic Preservation Office of the Wisconsin State Historical Society, will speak about historical preservation, grants and tax credits.

This event aims to promote the preservation, by owners, of the many historical homes and other structures in the Belgian Settlement Area. These cherished buildings – red brick homes, log farm buildings and road side chapels – continue to tell the story of the Belgian immigrants who settled the area starting in 1853.
