The Salvation Army is seeking bell ringers for the holiday season. Bell ringing starts Nov. 17 and runs through Dec. 23. Volunteers come from the community as individuals, couples, families and also from churches, schools and civic organizations. Last year more than $52,000 was raised to help 783 individuals and families in Door County.
The Salvation Army in Door County cooperates and coordinates with other social service providers so as not to duplicate services. One of the main areas The Salvation Army is involved with in Door County is in sheltering services, which includes rent and utility assistance to help people to stay in their homes or apartments. The goal is to prevent homelessness.
