Big Band Jazz Concert

Bopping and swinging began this week at Birch Creek as the Big Band Jazz Session I faculty and students presented their first performances in the Dutton Concert Barn. “The Great American Big Band” will be presented July 21. On July 20, the music of “Basie, Miller, Ellington” will fill the concert barn with the rhythmic style, and unparalleled joy and ease, of these jazz icons.

This gathering of big-time jazz talent from across the country is a unique opportunity in Door County that can only be experienced at Birch Creek. Musicians who are teaching and performing at Birch Creek have played with world-renowned musicians such as Marian McPartland, Wynton Marsalis, Harold Jones, Tito Puente, and Harry Connick Jr. They will play alongside the auditioned students for 12 big band jazz concerts during the four-week session, July 18 through Aug. 11.

Birch Creek Music Performance Center is located at 3821 Cty E in Egg Harbor. Tickets may be purchased online at birchcreek.org or by calling 920.868.3763. Birch Creek’s box office is open 9 am – 8 pm on concert nights and 9 am – 5 pm, Monday and Tuesday.
