On June 22, 8 pm, the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band will return by popular demand to Door Community Auditorium (DCA). This band has held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 50 years, creating music that exemplifies the Crescent City’s inimitable spirit and joie de vivre. Tickets are $55-$75.
In its most recent release, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band redefines what New Orleans music means today by tapping into the city’s Afro-Cuban roots and honoring cutting-edge artists such as Stevie Wonder and the Black Keys. Today, this seven-piece band has members whose ages span nearly 60 years, embodying its mission to pass on a joyful musical tradition while always revitalizing it with new blood and fresh ideas.
On June 23, 6 pm, the kid-friendly Americana folk duo Okee Dokee Brothers will perform songs written under wide-open skies and harmonies fine-tuned around the campfire. The group’s spirit of friendship and adventure makes room for kids to dance, for parents to share stories and for everyone to gain respect for nature, each other and our world.
