Big Band Jazz Is in Full Swing at Birch Creek

Big Band Jazz is in full swing at Birch Creek. Faculty and students are performing songs by legends including Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Billy Strayhorn and Jelly Roll Morton in the Dutton Concert Barn four nights weekly through Aug. 10. Audiences love top hits from the Great American Songbook such as “Mack the Knife,” “Blues in the Night,” “Corner Pocket” and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.”

Birch Creek concerts provide an opportunity to hear big-time jazz performers from across the country. The faculty performing artists are Katie Ernst, July 17-27; and Mardra and Reggie Thomas, July 31 – Aug. 10. They spend each day teaching advanced music students the art of musicianship and prepare them for live concert performances and outreach events around the county.

Concerts begin at 7:30 pm, with pre-concert music under the gazebo at 7 pm. Purchase tickets online at birchcreek.org/tickets or by calling 920.868.3763.
