Big Fish, Turkey Trot, Nature Hikes & More Weekend Plans

Welcome the colder, quieter days of November with a hike through some of the county’s most beautiful areas. Rather spend your time indoors? Catch some live musical theater, a hometown story screening, or a vibrant display of art in Sturgeon Bay.

Friday, November 4

Outdoors at Ida Bay

Join a naturalist for a gentle hike through the fall-fragrant forests of the Ida Bay Preserve. 9 am.

Door County’s Hometown Story

If you haven’t had a chance to see Wisconsin Public Television’s Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Door County, head over to Crossroads at Big Creek for a free screening. 2 pm.

Big Fish

It’s high school musical season! More than 50 students from Sevastopol will bring the emotional and imaginative story of Big Fish to the stage during three performances this weekend, beginning Friday at 7 pm.

Saturday, November 5

Turkey Trot

It’s time for Sevastopol’s annual Turkey Trot! Choose from one of four routes – four, two, one or a half mile – leaving from the town park. 8 am.

Miller Art Museum Opening Reception

The Miller Art Museum celebrates the opening of its newest exhibit 41st Juried Annual with a free reception including some of the 48 artists whose work was chosen from a pool of 99 applicants. Awards will be announced at 3:30 pm.

Night Sky Viewing

Join the folks of the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society for a free night sky viewing program at the Crossroads at Big Creek’s Astronomy Campus. 6:45 pm.

Lost Moth Folk

Join Milwaukee-based singer-songwriter Bill Camplin for an evening of folk music and camaraderie at Egg Harbor’s Lost Moth Gallery. 7 pm.

Sunday, November 6

Peshtigo Fire Presentation

Door County resident Barb Chisholm once again presents a first-person narrative on the devastating Peshtigo Fire that swept through the area in October 1871. 1 pm.

Appel’s Bluff

Polish off your weekend with a ramble through one of The Ridges’ newest acquisitions – Appel’s Bluff in Baileys Harbor. 2 pm.

Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Green Bay Packers (4-3-0) take on the Indianapolis Colts (3-5-0) in Green Bay on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3:25 pm. Catch the action on CBS.
