Big Read Events Start Jan. 28

The Door County Library is launching its newest NEA Big Read – featuring Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel – this coming week with free, virtual events. The library received an NEA Big Read grant and financial support from the Women’s Fund Endowment of Door County, Carol Coryell Charitable Fund, Adele and Ed Douglass Charitable Fund, and Kerley Family Foundation of the Door County Community Foundation. The program was also underwritten by the Door County Library Foundation, Door County Medical Center and Friends of the Door County Libraries. The library branches distributed a total of 750 copies of the book.

Station Eleven is set in North America 20 years after the collapse of civilization, when culture is reshaping itself and defining a new normal. It tells about the relationships that sustain us, the ephemeral nature of fame, and the beauty of the world as we know it.

All events are free and available via Zoom and/or Facebook Live. Recordings will also be available on the Door County Library’s YouTube channel and at DoorCountyReads.org as they become available.
