Bike Ride Benefits Northern Door Children’s Center

Last year, the Bill Bastian Memorial Bike Benefit Ride was organized as part of the grand opening celebration for Nor Door Sport and Cyclery’s revamped setting, as well as a tribute ride, honoring the memory of a community icon. While the folks at Nor Door Sport & Cyclery have settled into their new digs, this year’s ride will once again honor the spirit of Bill Bastian.

On Saturday, June 28, the Second Annual Bill Bastian Memorial Bike Benefit Ride will leave between 9 and 10 am from Nor Door Sport & Cyclery in Fish Creek, across from the entrance to Peninsula State Park. With three routes to from which to choose, the event is once again catered to both families and experienced riders. The former can select a ride with a distance of 4.2 miles, which will be routed through Peninsula State Park, while more experienced riders will have the opportunity to choose from 28-mile or 40-mile loops that travel not only through Peninsula State Park but also the scenic back roads of the county.

Entry for the ride is just $15 for adults, $10 for kids age 6 – 12 and free for kids under six. The price includes in-ride refreshments, a light lunch served from 11:30 am – 1 pm, a raffle ticket and a commemorative water bottle. The raffle drawing, which includes the chance to win three new Trek bicycles, will take place at 2 pm. Proceeds from the ride will go to the Northern Door Children’s Center.

The 2008 Bill Bastian Memorial Bike Benefit Ride is sponsored by Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, Alexander’s, Door County Half Marathon, Door Reminder, Nor Door Sport & Cyclery, Peninsula Pulse and Trek.
