Bill Wilson to Present “Permaculture/Transition to a Post Oil Society”

Bill Wilson of Midwest Permaculture will present a seminar on the topic of permaculture, a design model used in gardening, farming, building structures, and organizing communities, which is based on natural principles and care for people. Sustain Door, Inc. will sponsor Wilson’s visit to Door County, which will include the presentation beginning at 7 pm on Thursday, Dec. 2 at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

Permaculture reverses the cultural model of consumption into one of creation. Permaculture principles are the basis of a popular movement to transition to a sustainable economy from our current economy based unsustainably on limited natural resources. The Transition Town movement has been adopted officially and unofficially in over 600 communities globally to prepare for economic and global change not out of fear, but out of desire to create authentic ways of living in harmony with the planet and each other.

Wilson has hosted over 22 permaculture design certification courses, taught widely on permaculture and the Transition Town initiative, and has been interviewed on NPR. The presentation is free and open to the public.
