Birch Creek Announces Fall 2017 Concert Series

Birch Creek Music Performance Center announces the return of their fall concert series. This year will feature five different evening performances, highlighting a selection of the Academy’s summer faculty members along with successful musicians from Door County and across the Midwest. All proceeds will benefit future Birch Creek students and the Birch Creek Scholarship Fund.

The first concert in the series will welcome back Kevin Van Ess and Talk of the Town on Sept. 2 at 7:30 pm. New to Birch Creek this year, Ted Yoder will share his mastery of the hammered dulcimer Sept. 16 at 7:30 pm. Jazz I Session faculty member, Scott Burns will return Sept. 30 at 7:30 pm with his quintet. The Birch Creek Associates will host their annual fundraiser Oct. 14 at 7 pm with “A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald,” featuring Jazz I Session faculty members Michael Stryker, and Katie Ernst. To finish the series, “Christmas Around the World” will feature Birch Creek faculty brass and percussion with handbell choir and carol sing on Saturday, December 2 at 7 pm.

The Talk of The Town, under the leadership of Kevin Van Ess, is one of the hottest swing/Dixieland style jazz groups north of New Orleans. This six-piece group has collectively more than 300 years of experience. The group not only boasts having some of the finest musicians in the Midwest it is also very entertaining and appealing to audiences of all ages.
