Birch Creek of Door County Presents “Club Classics”

Betty Lewis

Birch Creek will bring together two of their symphony faculty members for a fall concert, “Club Classics – a violin and harp duo with an international flair,” on October 4 in Juniper Hall. In a casual, club-style setting, concertgoers will hear the familiar compositions of Debussy, Strauss, Kreisler, and more.

Faye Seeman, principal harpist of the Chicago Sinfonietta and Joffrey Ballet Orchestras, is adjunct professor of harp studies at both Wheaton College and Northern Illinois University. She is the founder of the “Kithara” flute, cello and harp trio, and the “ZigZag” Jazz Harp Quartet. Seeman has been on Birch Creek’s faculty for 21 years.

2011 marked Betty Lewis’ 18th year with the Birch Creek Symphony Orchestra. She is an active violinist and violist in the Chicago area, performing with groups ranging from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to Broadway in Chicago’s orchestra for Beauty and the Beast. Concertgoers may recognize Lewis from her many seasons with the Peninsula Music Festival orchestra as well.

Birch Creek is located three miles east of Egg Harbor on County Highway E. Doors will open at 7 pm for social time, cash bar, and desserts. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $18 per person. For more information or to purchase ticket call 920.868.3763 to purchase advance tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door.
