Birch Creek Offers Adult-Musician Programs

Birch Creek Music Performance Center is hosting two music programs for adults this summer.

The Wind Ensemble Retreat, Aug. 16-19, is being offered for the fifth time and has attracted participants from eight states, including community band members, band teachers and other active amateur players. The co-directors are Charles (Chip) Staley and Birch Creek’s jazz band directors, Jim Stombres and Steve Sveum. Active instrumentalists are encouraged to apply because there is still availability in most band sections.

The Chamber Music Retreat, Aug. 22-25, is accepting applications from adult musicians of intermediate playing ability and higher

Ricardo Castañeda, program director for Birch Creek’s Symphony session; and assistant coordinator Elizabeth York, faculty violinist, are directing the program, which is designed for wind, string and piano ensembles that will study with faculty/performing artists.

On-site dorm housing for both programs is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and each program will culminate in a free, public concert performance
