Birch Creek Percussion & Steel Band Opens Season June 20

Birch Creek Music Performance Center will present its opening-night concert, Summer Beginnings: A Celebration in Music, on June 20 on the newly named Stage of Stars in the Dutton Concert Barn.

The Percussion & Steel Band leads off the first two weeks with concerts featuring faculty performing artists and advanced student musicians. Dan Moore, a professor of percussion at the University of Iowa, will return for his 21st season and his fourth year as the program director of the Percussion & Steel Band session.

Then the first week of concerts will continue with Playfully Percussive: Beautiful Music to Make You Smile on June 21 and Percussion Spectacular: James Dutton Memorial Concert, on June 22, 3 pm. Children and student tickets are free.
