The efforts of Birch Creek Music Performance Center, Inc. to provide quality music education and serve as an economic engine for the area were recognized with a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board competitive grant program. Birch Creek matches Arts Board funds with funds raised locally.
Support from the State of Wisconsin helps Birch Creek fulfill its mission to provide intensive, performance-based instruction to promising young musicians by immersing them in a professional, mentoring environment. The grant award will go far in helping Birch Creek offer advanced music education and concert experiences of the highest level.
Birch Creek makes this announcement as it begins celebrations for its 40th concert season in 2015. The summer music school and concert venue has been a Wisconsin institution since 1975, educating hundreds of promising young musicians each summer and providing concerts for tourists and residents alike. Through job creation, purchased services, and family-purchased meals and lodging, Birch Creek has an economic impact on the Door County community of more than $3.7 million over the past seven years.
The 2015 concert schedule is as follows: percussion and steel band, June 18-27; symphony, July 2-11; big band jazz, July 15-August 8; and vocal jazz, Aug. 11-15. For more information visit birchcreek.org.
