Birch Creek Symphony Concert Series Closes with Force of Destiny Concert

On July 5 at Birch Creek Music Performance Center, the Symphony Orchestra will perform selections from Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite” with the narration of The Velveteen Rabbit.

While serving as Assistant Conductor of the Nashville Symphony, Birch Creek Conductor Brian Groner was asked to collaborate with prominent children’s entertainer Henry Cory to craft a work, for narrator and orchestra, based on The Velveteen Rabbit.

The first performance of the work was during a concert of the Nashville Symphony for nearly 1,000 4-year-old children and their teachers. The narrator was Janis Ian, the Grammy Award winning folk singer. Birch Creek Executive Director Alan Kopischke will narrate the July 5 performance.

The Birch Creek Symphony concert session closes with the Force of Destiny concert on July 6. Featured repertoire includes Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries and Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino.

Opening night for Birch Creek’s Percussion & Steel Band session is July 11 with “A Drumming Mosaic.”

Concerts begin at 8 pm. General admission tickets are $29 adults, $10 students and $6 for children ages 11 and under. For tickets, visit birchcreek.org, call 920.868.3763 or stop by campus, located 3 miles east of Egg Harbor on County E.
