Birch Creek’s Fall Concert Series and Associates’ Fall Fundraiser

Birch Creek will offer five performances during its Fall Concert Series, plus an evening at a jazz club-style bistro created in Juniper Hall for the Associates’ Fall Fundraiser.
On Aug. 31, Liam Teague, an internationally renowned steel-pan virtuoso and director of the Percussion Session’s steel band, will perform with an ensemble that includes Birch Creek faculty members Yuko Asada and Scott McConnell.
Birch Creek faculty members José Encarnación, saxophone; and Dane Richeson, percussion, will bring their Lawrence University Jazz Quartet to perform original jazz compositions and exciting interpretations of jazz standards Sept. 7. Lawrence faculty members Mark Urness, bass; and Bill Carrothers, piano, will join them.
On Sept. 14, the Omega double-keyboard piano built by Peter Nehlsen of Washington Island will return for a Juniper Hall performance featuring Jodie DeSalvo and Nicholas Towns of Lawrence University.
The annual Birch Creek Associates’ Fall Fundraiser on Oct. 12 will be an evening of delicious food, fine company and jazz, with Jeff Campbell on bass, Rick Haydon on guitar and Reggie Thomas on piano. Social time will begin at 5:30 pm; heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will begin at 6 pm; the concert will begin at 7 pm. Tickets are $65 per person; all proceeds will benefit Birch Creek students.
Two Christmas at Birch Creek concerts – on Dec. 7, 2:30 pm and 7 pm – will complete the season.
