Birch Creek’s Symphony Season Begins July 3

Music will fill the air at Birch Creek on July 3 when the Symphony Session’s opening night stars Burton Concerto Competition winners Jonathan Bass (piano) of Washington Island and Gabe Roethle (violin) of Rockford, Illinois.

The music of Barber and Rachmaninoff will flow into the patriotic tunes of John Philip Sousa and John Williams during Birch Creek’s traditional Fourth of July celebration concert, Proud Americans, on July 4. The event will include a pie-and-ice-cream social at 2:30 pm; the music will start at 4 pm.

A Symphony Session highlight is set for July 11 and 12, when Peter Nehlsen’s one-of-a-kind Omega double-keyboard piano makes its Birch Creek debut, with premier concert pianists Jodie DeSalvo and Jeannie Yu as soloists. The 85-piece Birch Creek Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Conductor Brian Groner, will also thrill.
