Birds, Bees and Lenses at Crossroads

Kick off your weekend activities with sunrise birding at the Cove Estuary on Oct. 15, 7-9 am. Meet bright and early to hike the estuary and look for birds that use it as a migration stopover. Waterproof footwear is recommended. Meet at the Cove Preserve, 817 S. 20th Place in Sturgeon Bay.

Return Oct. 15, 2 pm, to the Stonecipher Astronomy Center, 2200 Utah St. in Sturgeon Bay, for a program on glass. As part of the Wisconsin Science Festival, the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society is collaborating with Crossroads at Big Creek and the Door County libraries to host a planetarium show, “Through Two Small Pieces of Glass.”

The Door County Beekeepers Club invites the public to its Oct. 18 meeting, 6:30 pm, in the lecture hall of the Collins Learning Center. The program will be “Mind Your Own Bees’ Wax,” about a non-honey product of bees.

The Junior Nature Club – intended for preschool-aged children and their companions – will meet Oct. 19, 10 am, for an outdoor activity about tree leaves.

Learn more about these programs and others at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, at crossroadsatbigcreek.org.
