Birds of Chicago Make a Winter Stop at DCA

Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present Birds of Chicago live on the main stage on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. Birds of Chicago is the critically acclaimed new collective centered around JT Nero, front man of the Chicago-based band JT and the Clouds, and Allison Russell of the Vancouver-based band Po’ Girl.

This will mark a rare winter appearance for Nero and Russell, who under the banner of JT and the Clouds make regular summer appearances throughout the county. In the past two years, Nero and Russell have enjoyed a new level of critical and popular success, with their brand-new album Birds of Chicago winning them rave reviews and new fans on both sides of the Atlantic.

Nero’s fractured country-soul voice, wrapped in Russell’s silver and gold tones, contains echoes of mountain gospel, street corner doo-wop, and classic soul. Accompanied by just a banjo and a guitar, it’s haunting. The Chicago Sun-Times calls them “two of the most compelling new voices in Americana roots music.”

Tickets range from $18 – 20. Advance reservations are recommended. For tickets, call 920.868.2728, visit http://www.dcauditorium.org, or stop by the box office. The box office is located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek and is open 12 – 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
