Bits and Bites: Heirloom Closes, Sway Expands

Baileys Harbor will lose a much-loved breakfast and lunch spot in 2023, but it will gain another full-fledged brewery and taproom.

Heirloom Cafe and Provisions has closed its doors after five years. Owners Katie and Andy Gill announced the closure on social media Feb. 18 by thanking the customers who have supported the eatery at 2434 Cty F.

“Heirloom will hold a special place in our hearts forever,” they wrote. “We have y’all to thank for making these past few years so special.”

The Gills also announced the new endeavor that will be expanding into the space. Sway, the brewery headed by Matt Sampson, is purchasing the building and will take over the upstairs space after moving into the basement level of the building in 2022. Sampson announced that he intends to open a full taproom experience in late spring.

“We started Sway with the goal of encouraging balance, reconnection and enjoyment through a diverse range of simple, drinkable beers. This taproom will allow us to fully realize much of that goal.”

Sampson also announced that he plans to serve house-made bakery and coffee on select mornings and casual food during taproom hours. He expects a full opening in May.
