Bits & Bites

Fat Belly Is Back

Fat Belly, 10621 N. Highland Road in Sister Bay, opened last week with an updated menu. Following the success of its weekly Mac Mondays last year, mac & cheese specialties are now menu staples, including the three-cheese truffle, chicken bacon ranch, and barbecue mac with Door Karma bacon.

Dining by the Bay Fundraiser Offers Virtual Lineup

The YMCA’s annual Dining by the Bay fundraiser will be held virtually May 22, and it will include a masqurade murder mystery. When you register for the virtual event, you’ll receive a box filled with DC Chocolate Design chocolates, popcorn and other masquerade essentials. For a fee, you can also customize your box to include an assortment of brews from Bridge Up Brewery or a wine selection from Door 44 Winery. If you dine at or get takeout from participating restaurants on May 22, 10% of each sale will be donated to the Door County YMCA’s annual campaign.

Bearded Heart Is Beating Again

Bearded Heart, 8093 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor, is open for the 2021 season. Sage Conrad says they’ll plan to keep some of the things they implemented last year, such as the outdoor pickup window, to continue providing quick, safe service. Behind Bearded Heart, Conrad has been making new additions to the scene: Door County Surf and Supply and Good Leaf Green House, which offers beer and wine, CBD goodies and houseplants.

Chef’s Hat’s on the Menu

Chef’s Hat, 3063 Church St. in Ephraim, is ready for another beautiful summer. After closing its indoor dining area last summer and expanding its outdoor options, owner Todd Bennett hopes for a repeat of last summer’s gorgeous weather. This year, Chef’s Hat has limited indoor seating with clear dividers installed between each table.
