Bits & Bites: BBQ at DCBC Eats, A New (Shiny) Moon and more

BBQ at DCBC Eats

DCBC Eats – Door County Brewing Co.’s new casual-food venture, which is attached to its outdoor beer garden in Baileys Harbor – is now open. The former Bearded Heart building was used as a guest house during the winter, but now it’s a spot for serving casual food all summer long. Think of this building as sort of a permanent food truck that supports the beer garden and taproom, 8099 Hwy 57, with window service. DCBC Eats is open daily, 11 am – 8 pm.

A New (Shiny) Moon

Shiny Moon Cafe, located above the Fish Creek Market, 4164 Main St. in Fish Creek, is now open for breakfast and lunch. Try the quiche and frittata du jour, kalua pork sandwiches, duck confit hash, Moroccan veggie stew and more edibles, plus coffee, beer and wine.

Enjoy Life at Czarnuszka Soup Bar

Czarnuszka Soup Bar reopened in April under new ownership. Locals Ben and Laura McMahon are saluting the traditions of the former owner while also pushing the boundaries of soup with new offerings.

Each week, Thursdays – Tuesdays, 11 am – 4 pm, you’ll find four soups that vary daily: all the old favorites such as potato chowder, rhythm chili and Irish Root, plus new additions such as tom kha, jungle curry, jambalaya and chana masala.

The soup bar is tucked in a quiet corner of Shorewood Village, 9922 Water St. in Ephraim. With outdoor seating and the tiniest water view in the county, every day is a good day for soup.

The Cookery Closes

On Thursday, The Cookery shared the news that Dick and Carol Skare are retiring after 44 years and selling their restaurant property. The Cookery will close Monday, May 31, and a new restaurant will be moving into the space. More details will be available after the sale is final.

Pelican Cove Tiki Bar and Ice Cream Shack Launches in Jacksonport

Venture out to Pelican Cove, a new tiki bar and ice cream shack, to enjoy frozen treats for the whole family and house-made cocktails. It will launch Memorial Day weekend outside Island Fever Rum Bar and Grill, 6301 Hwy 57 in Jacksonport.
