Bits & Bites: A Facelift for Bayside

One of the exciting things about the food scene in Door County this time of year is the announcement of new places to try and exciting updates about tried-and-true favorites. If you’re keeping up, here are two to keep on your radar.

Bayside Tavern Turns Back Time

To celebrate 100 years, Bayside Tavern, 4160 Main St. in Fish Creek, will be restoring the building’s exterior to its original facade. Through the use of old photographs to help influence the design, the building’s exterior will bid farewell to the 1970s-era mansard roof and narrow windows and reveal the original structure that’s been hidden for half a century. Restoration work has already begun, and the Bayside will remain open during most of the construction.

Sip a While in Ephraim

Sip, a coffee shop and wine bar, is coming to north Ephraim in the building that was home to the Rusty Rabbit, 10326 Water St. (Hwy 42). Though owner Jennie Bexell is keeping some of the details under wraps for a few more weeks, Sip will be one of two businesses going into the space in addition to Spot Home, a home-goods and décor shop.
