If you’re hoping to make one last trip to Parador in Egg Harbor, you’re running out of time. After 12 seasons serving amazing small plates, sangria and chocolate churros at 7829 Hwy 42, the restaurant is closing up shop after service Saturday, Sept. 3. 

Blue Bear Adds Dinner 

Blue Bear, the restaurant that moved into the former Viking Grill space this year, is adding dinner service. The restaurant kicked off its inaugural season with just breakfast and lunch throughout the summer, but it’s ramping up for fall in the space that received a complete overhaul this spring. Dinner service is available Thursday-Saturday, 5-9 pm. Blue Bear is located at 12029 Hwy 42 in Ellison Bay.

Winery Wins Top Wine Award

The von Stiehl Winery’s 2019 Teroldego – one of its newest creations, focusing on varietals not common to Wisconsin – was recently named one of the top wines, scoring 96 points, at the USA Wine Ratings International Competition in San Francisco. It was the third red wine to score 90 points or more in recent years, and one of four von Stiehl wines submitted to the competition that scored high marks.
“We are very humbled and honored that this wine scored so highly, at 96 points, as well as having three other wines score 84 points or more,” said Anthony Bilwin, von Stiehl’s general manager. “Our red-wine program has really been a focus for us, and it’s exciting for our team to see their passion score so incredibly well.”

Other von Stiehl wines that scored highly at this year’s competition were its 2017 Red Mountain cabernet sauvignon (scoring 92 points), 2017 Barrel Select cabernet sauvignon (89 points) and 2021 Albarino (84 points). And all of these came after its Cherry Bounce won double gold – the best-in-class liqueur – at this year’s Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in June, for the second year in a row.
