BITS & BITES: Wine Fest Returning to Maxwelton in 2023

The Door County Wine Festival will stay in Baileys Harbor in 2023. Organizers announced the celebration of Door County wineries will return to Maxwelton Braes on June 24, 2023. Tickets will go on sale Thanksgiving weekend.

The festival features wines produced by the members of the Door County Wine Trail available in tasting tents on the Maxwelton lawn. Attendees will enjoy food vendors and live music in addition to great wine, and shuttles will take people to and from the tasting grounds. Learn more at doorcountywinefest.com.

Season Finales

Several restaurants called it a season at the end of Fall Fest weekend. Wilson’s Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor has gone into hibernation until next May. Analog Ice Cream and Coffee shut down for the season after cheering on drivers at Sunday’s Fall Fest Derby. Northern Grill and Pub and Door County Ice Cream Factory in Sister Bay also closed for the season after the weekend, as did Rusty Tractor in Carlsville.

Stabbur Beer Garden will close after service Sunday, Oct. 23, and Grasse’s Grill is still open, but only for another week – the Sister Bay eatery will close Oct. 29. The Waterfront plans to close the first week of November, much earlier than usual. Those looking to get a last fix at one of the peninsula’s finest restaurants should not delay.

A few other spots have updated hours for the late fall and winter. Chef’s Hat in Ephraim is open Friday and Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday for breakfast. In Sister Bay, LURE will be open Thursday-Sunday for dinner at 5 pm. Julie’s Park Cafe in Fish Creek will be open Friday-Sunday, 7 am – 2 pm, beginning Nov. 1.
