Bjorklunden Announces the 2012 Seminar Series

Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden is excited to announce there are still openings in the 2012 summer seminar series. There are a variety of seminars to choose from.

The series will kick off with “Reflections of Storytelling” and “Creating Better Photographs with Your Digital Camera” from June 10 – 15.

Other seminar topics include “1912: Modern Art a Century Ago,” “Exploring the Magic of Music: A Sonic Adventure of Global Proportions,” “Nature, Rhythm, Stars & Things That Fly,” “Abraham Lincoln: An American Icon,” “Learning To Live, Learning To Die: Lessons from WIT,” “New Fossils & Old DNA: Current Perspectives on Human Evolution,” “Writing Our Lives through Fact & Fiction,” “Classic Humor: Exploring the Element of Humor in Classical Music,” and more.

During the week, seminar participants stay in a modern 37,000 square foot “lodge” that retains the estate’s Norwegian heritage. Commuters are also welcome. Seminar classes meet weekday mornings and some evenings with remaining free-time open to exploration of the area’s many cultural and recreational opportunities or simple relaxation at Bjِrklunden’s meadows, woods, and mile-long, unspoiled Lake Michigan shoreline.
