Bjِrklunden Hosts Free Joint Concerts

Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a couple joint concerts in early May.

On May 2 at 4:30 pm, Gamelan Cahaya (Lawrence’s Balinese gamelan ensemble) and The Appletones will perform. Gamelan Cahaya performs traditional pieces and 20th century works by composers from Bali, Indonesia. The Appletones are a co-ed a cappella group who sing mostly popular songs.

On May 5 at 1:30 pm, The Lawrence Saxophone Studio and The Lawrence Jazz Guitar Studio will perform. The Saxophone studio will play a variety of chamber works and improvisations, including music for saxophone ensemble. The Jazz Guitar Studio will present a concert of original material as well as fresh takes on standard repertoire.

These free concerts are held at Bjِrklunden’s Vail Hall. Entrance to the Bjِrklunden lodge is located on Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor.
