Bjorklunden Mixes Past and Present

Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert Saturday, July 10 at 7 pm, featuring chamber and solo works by Baroque master J.S. Bach and Mohammed Fairouz, one of the most sought after composers writing today. Bach and Fairouz are brought together to showcase their common use of counterpoint as a basis for musical expression, and to celebrate the individual richness of each composer writing 300 years apart.

The concert also features three exceptional performers, cellist Nancy Kaphaem, saxophonist Sara Kind, and pianist Katie Reimer.

A suggested donation of $20 will be taken at the door, and all proceeds will benefit a commercial recording of solo and chamber music by Fairouz.

The performance will be held in Bjِrklunden’s Vail Hall. Entrance to the Bjِrklunden lodge is located on Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor, across from Anschutz Plumbing. For more information call 920.839.2216, visit http://www.lawrence.edu/dept/bjork or http://www.mohammedfairouz.com.
