Bjorklunden Presents Bach and Foirouz

On Saturday, July 10 at 7 pm Bjorklunden will hosts a program featuring chamber and solo works by Baroque master J.S. Bach, and Mohammed Fairouz, one of the most sought after composers writing today. Bach and Fairouz are brought together to showcase their common use of counterpoint as a basis for musical expression, and to celebrate the individual richness of each composer writing 300 years apart.

The concert features three exceptional performers, cellist Nancy Kaphaem, saxophonist Sara Kind, and pianist Katie Reimer. Kaphaem is a freelance cellist who performs with numerous orchestras in Northeastern Wisconsin, including Fox Valley Symphony and the Green Bay Symphony.

Kind and Reimer are both alumni of Lawrence University’s Conservatory of Music, and Kind is currently on faculty at Lawrence. Reimer is currently based in New York City, where she performs with and directs a chamber music ensemble dedicated to contemporary music.

A suggested donation of $20 will be taken at the door, and all proceeds given towards a commercial recording of solo and chamber music by Mohammed Fairouz. For more information visit http://www.mohammedfairouz.com.

The performance will be held in Bjِrklunden’s Vail Hall located on Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor, across from Anschutz Plumbing. For more information call 920.839.2216 or visit http://www.lawrence.edu/dept/bjork.
