“Blue Collar Diaries” Coming Soon to TAP

Third Avenue Playhouse is showing The Fantasticks through Oct. 19. The show runs Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. The Fantasticks, by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, is the world’s longest running musical, running for more than 52 years in Manhattan and entrancing generations of audiences the world over.

The Fantasticks, the first musical produced by Stage Door Theatre Company, is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall. The narrator, El Gallo, originally played by Jerry Orbach, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart, and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo’s words that “without a hurt, the heart is hollow.”

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $10 for students 12 – 24, and $5 for children 11 and under.

Coming soon from Stage Door Theatre Company is Blue Collar Diaries, running Nov. 6 – 23. This show is written and performed by Michelle Myers Berg.

Berg portrays dozens of unforgettable characters that drifted through her working class neighborhood in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Their personal stories go far beyond the names that are stitched above their left breast pockets.

This original one-woman show features stories that will make audiences appreciate the countless people whose greatest assets were not tucked in a bank vault or a lavish home, but were instead poured into the modest streets and houses they lived in everyday.
