Bluebird Nesting Box Workshop at The Ridges

The public is welcome to learn about ways to help bluebirds returning in the spring by building a nesting box at The Ridges Sanctuary on March 10. “Building for Bluebirds” workshops will be held at 10 am and 2 pm at The Ridges’ Marshall Cabin, located at 8288 Highway Q in Baileys Harbor.

During the workshop, Ridges Naturalist Karen Newbern will share natural history and habitat needs of the Eastern Bluebird. She will also give tips on attracting bluebirds to nest boxes and discuss the importance of monitoring and recording use of the nests. All materials will be supplied, but participants are encouraged to bring their own hammer.

This program is designed for families, but all ages are welcome. The cost is $25 per family for members of The Ridges or the YMCA, $30 per family for the general public. The fee includes materials. Pre-registration is requested by calling The Ridges at 920.839.2802 or the Door County YMCA at 920.868.3660.

“Building for Bluebirds” is one in a series of programs called “No Family Left Inside.” These programs are offered by The Ridges, the Door County YMCA and the McArdle Library and are designed to give parents and children the opportunity to explore nature together.
