Boater’s Safety Course Offered by Door County Sail & Power Squadron

The Door County Sail & Power Squadron is offering ABC-3, a boater’s safety course, starting on April 18 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Sturgeon Bay. This course is also offered simultaneously to residents of Washington Island through the use of NWTC’s ITV Distance Learning technology. Classes on the island will be held at Washington Island School. This DNR-prescribed boating safety course provides the basic instruction needed to successfully complete the DNR exam required for a safety certificate issued by the DNR.

Registration is at 6 pm on April 18 and the class starts at 6:30 pm. Subsequent classes begin at 6:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm. The cost for the course is $40, and includes materials and the DNR exam fee. Children, ages 11 to 15, can take the course if accompanied by an adult; however, they must be 12 years old before taking the exam. The squadron offers a discount for multiple family members.
