Body Found at Whitefish Dunes is Likely Missing Swimmer from Harrington Beach State Park

Door County authorities believe the body of a man found floating in the water at Whitefish Dunes State Park Sunday, Sept. 2, is that of 34-year-old Ahmad Adl. Adl went missing while swimming with four friends 120 miles south of the park at Harrington Beach State Park in Ozaukee County the afternoon of Aug. 20.

Rescuers at Harrington Beach State Park reported four- to six-foot waves on Aug. 20, with powerful rip currents as well. Four of the five swimmers made it back to land, but Paige Berndt, 32, was seriously injured and died later in the hospital. She had been manager of Grafton’s Water Street Brewery.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department officially ended the search for Adl on Aug. 25. Adl, of Franklin, Wis., was employed by GE Healthcare.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department was notified that the body was found, and this incident remains under investigation. An autopsy is being conducted by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
